we will be opening our very own brick and mortar shop named “HOLLYWOOD BABYLON” in portland’s hollywood district on december 1st! our store will be a mix of high and low vintage and modern resale with a few indie designers and artisans too…

we love the old-timey feel of the hollywood neighborhood and are excited to set up shop there.

the address is: 4512 ne sandy boulevard next to hollywood shoe repair (just past whole foods on the right if heading east)

the space has an interesting history in that it was a bridal shop for years, before that it was a wedding chapel, and prior to that a beauty salon…renovations are currently under way and with the help of all our friends it should be looking good in no time!

so these are not my feet, but I have been partial to this hue of nail lacquer myself this summer, and I thought it was a great image…the foto was taken by my fave fashion illustrator and blogger Garance Dore.

I randomly turned on the tv this morning to see this segment about “granny shoes” on the early shoe…they actually call worishofers the croc of this summer…yikes! it’s not exactly breaking news, but glad granny shoes are all the rage nonetheless…ps, you can get them in portland at Ladybird’s General Store – 728 N Alberta at Albina. we are super excited to be having a super sidewalk sale tomorrow at the Miss Delta: 3950 North Mississippi Avenue
we’ll be there from 11 am to 5 pm with an all new collection of vintage and new shoes and boots, men’s, women’s and children’s clothing and accessories, re-worked vintage t-shirts, jewelry, and a bargain basement record sale too!! (Miss Delta is now open for lunch on the weekend too, fyi)

TCB meant a lot to Elvis. He didn’t mess around with things…when he decided on something…he wanted it done RIGHT THEN…and CORRECTLY…so Taking Care of Business in a Flash meant just that…

I’ve always had a fascination with textiles – specifically prints. this is one of the things I love about vintage – the amazing prints and colors and quality that you rarely see produced anymore.
one major exception would be Liberty of London. I just stumbled upon this great article about Liberty.
who knew that Arthur Lasenby Liberty, founder of Liberty of London was inspired by kimono’s in mid nineteenth century! amazing…

It’s been fun spending time and chatting about fashion this past week with the ladies of 220 and shoppers alike…
the topic of having a uniform/jumpsuit to wear daily, and the ease of wearing an outfit or signature look day after day has come up several times. for many of us denim is part of the uniform – though I personally, go through different phases all the time, recently I was on a vintage muumuu binge. some great things about creating your own uniform are that it can be something you feel comfortable wearing, it’s functional, and hopefully represents your personal style too. these cork wedge soled shoes from germany are amazingly comfortable and stylish in a granny meets schoolgirl sort of way…and you will want to wear them every day. the style below is in stock. we will have five styles and colors available at the pop up this saturday, march 27th.

last night I had the privilege of seeing Maceo Parker + his band live and in person at the Aladdin Theater here in Portland, I was tired when I got there, but proceeded to dance my *** off. this show definitely makes it into my top five. Maceo really holds it down! today, I’m inspired to bring down some original funk records to play in the shop space…
